About the Photographer

Photos = memories
Life changes. Every second, every decision makes a difference. You read a book, a poem or someone’s life story and your heart changes.  This past year has been amazing – challenging, heartbreaking and wonderful. With every event and powerful emotion, each second, each memory is important. Photos capture those moments, those little seconds in life that fly by so fast. There is value in amazing photography, and that photography is my art. My photography is an expression of not only me – but also every single one of you that I photograph. This is me – I am thoughtful, caring, love spending time with babies and families.

Why hire me?
A photo session should not be stressful! My photography is ‘child-led’. It’s never forced, never too posed, but natural. Whether it’s in the studio, your house or somewhere outdoors, my goal is to make it fun, exciting and something you want to do every month – or maybe just every year. My whole world is pregnancy, babies and kids. I take the time to learn behaviors and learn about development. I believe that everyone, no matter what age they are has the right to say no. I will always talk to your child, to you about what I’m doing. I will always ask permission, and be open with what I’m doing. My goal is for you to have a great experience, and get the photos you love!

Some background:
I am going into my fourth year in my business for myself, but I have been in the industry for about ten years plus. My adventures started out in high school, taking an online correspondence course, annoying my friends with a camera constantly in their face, and filling up role after role of film. After high school, I moved to Saskatoon (from Carrot River) and got a job as a photographer at Walmart Portrait Studios. Maybe not the most glamorous job, but I allowed myself to learn everything I could! Moving up in the company from photographer, to Manager, to Assistant District Manger and being in charge of 5 stores around Saskatchewan, I can say I learned a lot! Wanting to gain more knowledge then Walmart could provide, I went on the work at McMasters Photographers for a year. There I learned a lot about photoshop, lighting, camera settings and more about customer service. It was pretty fantastic. So when I felt my creativity needed to explore, I started my own business - part time for the first two years, supplementing my income with a full time job at a baby store. I have now been working full time at my business for just over a year! I have an office in the Birth Rhythms Building, and can be found there mostly during the week.

Though photography is my main thing, I am also a certified Baby-wearing Educator, and a SGI trained Car Seat Technician. My second, part-time business is called The Urban Babybugs. I run car seat clinics out of Birth Rhythms every other Thursday afternoon, and periodically teach sessions about car seats and baby - wearing. This business is mostly informational, with a blog that gets updated about once a month, sharing information about the safety of car seats and the benefits and proper positioning of baby - wearing. I have a passion for pregnant moms, babies and families.  I also help Fred in her store in the front of Birth Rhythms, Mothers’ Melody, where I like to ‘think like a doula’, learn about breastfeeding, clothe diapers, and everything natural and organic.

I take great pride in my work, and with everything I try to do my best!

I look forward to meeting you and your family. I would love to “Capture your Personality”
